An Education in Deer Hunting in Public Hunting Areas

Public hunting can be quite a challenge in many populated areas. This, however, is not reason for a company not to sponsor a day or weekend hunt for their employees. Sporting goods retailers especially, can use these goodwill events as to educate their employees about the challenges of public hunting, especially if the majority of the store’s customers hunt on public land. Once employees are familiar with these challenges, they are able to knowledgeably recommend the most appropriate equipment to potential customers who hunt on public land or offer hunting tips.

The largest problem with public hunting is the number of hunters in the woods at any time. Little private hunting land is left, and what is left is being leased for enormous sums of money. Blue collar hunters have little choice but to engage in public hunting. Smart hunters will take the time to go in as far as allowed, where few hunters tread. As new hunters start into the woods, the deer will flee back to your location, as if they are being driven right to you. Naturally, these spots must be staked out early, before other hunters arrive.

Sporting goods retailers should encourage their employees to sell rain gear and cold weather gear to those who engage in public hunting. Cold, rainy days keep many hunters off public land, and there is a much better chance of finding a prime hunting spot when the lands are less crowded.
